Hubfest

This past Saturday, Hattiesburg hosted its annual Hubfest. A portion of downtown was blocked off and the streets were lined with vendors, musicians, and artists.

Having been to a few art shows and festivals downtown, I was not expecting much. However, I was blown away by Hubfest. There were at least three bands playing at a single moment, so music was to be heard from every street and the art work was just as entertaining.

I greatly appreciated how culturally diverse small town Hattiesburg was within a few blocks.

There was something of interest for everyone.

Hubfest brought together people of all ages, races, and origin to celebrate the beauty of nature, music, and art.
From the beautiful weather to the mouth-watering aroma of food on the grill, Hubfest was a success.

Chili and Sunshine

The only thing better than good music and tasty chili is music, numerous chili options for just $1, and effortless charity.

That's exactly what the men of Sigma Phi Epsilon are offering this Saturday.

Every year, Sig Ep hosts a chili cook-off on Southern Miss's campus. Several groups and organizations enter the competition with some wacky yet delicious chili recipes. (Like apple chili)

I can't wait to see what chili concoctions will be served this year.

Happy Bday Seuss

March 2 would have been Dr. Seuss's 105th Birthday. In his honor, birthday parties were hosted at schools and book stores across America. To promote literacy, members of Pi Beta Phi sorority dressed like some of Dr. Seuss's characters and read to children at Books A Million. The participants enjoyed the fantastic fairy-tales and yummy birthday cake.

Delt Sports Challenge

The ladies of Pi Beta Phi will be pairing up with the men of Delta Tau Delta to host Delta Tau

Delta's annual Cystic Fibrosis Sports Challenge and 2010 Great Strides Walk. The event will take place March. 6 at the Payne Center on Southern Miss's campus.

The Sports Challenge consists of locally sponsored teams competing in basketball, volleyball, tug-of-war, and dodgeball. The Sports Challenge and walk are both fun and raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis foundation.This year, Ray Guy will be the celebrity referee.
